The Band "Marys
Gunns" goes back to the
later 90's with Kylan Prince, Wes
Sheppard, Corey Bryant and many other
fourth and even fifth members under various band names. Long story
short, after the three boys graduated highschool in 2004, Shaun
Arthurs was added to create the balance that was so dearly
needed for the three chaps, who were about two years his junior.
Shortly after his joining, the group went on to try and capture
the sound, style, and attitude of what they all thought was
authentic Rock n' Roll at it's best. In early '05, they hit the
Vancouver Bar Scene.
Picadilly Pub, The Buffulo
Club, Pub 340, The Asbalt, Cheers, The Standard, The Roxy, The
RedRoom and
more were at any willing bands finger tips, as well as the Gunns.
After a year of playing wherever they were allowed, an opportunity
in March '06 called FANWARS arrose, hosted mainly at the
Buffalo Club. After two rounds and a finale, the band arose
victorious, establishing a name for themselves. Starving for more,
an opportunity was offered by White Rock Family friend and music
enthusiast George MacDonald to help get the band a pro
recording in mid '07. The offer was taken seriously by the boys.
Proceeding to Mushroom Studios In
September that year, the result of a pro recording turned in to a
full length debut album. The Band and George decided on the album
name "Smugglers Cabaret",
representing an old bar located in the deep south of White Rock
near the Canada/US border. The record is now in production and
ready to hit shelves in the weeks to come. Along with that, a CD
release party is also short at hand in the coming summer months.
Keep an eye on the scene and Mary's
Gunns, chances are they're coming
to your hometown. |
